Seafire

Title: Seafire Author: Natalie C. Parker Rating: 3.5/5 stars Buy on: August 28th  All of her life Caledonia has lived her life on the deadly seas. After losing her family, Caledonia becomes a captain of her own ship, Mors Navis. Not only is this ship unique because of its captain, but also because it is an all girl ship. Caledonia and her crew all share a common vision: to destroy the men who have brought nothing but sorrow and pain to their world, Aric and his fleet. The girls’ worlds are turned upside down after a nearly fatal accident which lends itself to a boy coming aboard. Could he have the answers necessary to take down Aric and his fleet, or is he looking to take down the girls of the Mors Navis?   I was hoping to like this book more than I did. To be honest I wasn’t sure if I was going to bother reading it, but I saw all the hype for the book and it had me curious. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know Caledonia and her crew throughout the story and often thought they w

Misfits

Title: Misfits Author: Jen Calonita Rating: 4/5 Stars On Sale: October 1st    ¨Fake it till you make it.¨ Devin may be a princess, but it isn´t the life path she´d choose for herself. If you ask her she´d rather use her ability to talk to creatures to aid in healing them. Unfortunately, Devin doesn´t get a say in what she wants to do and is sent to Royal Academy- because attendance at RA is mandatory  for all young royals in the kingdom. From the moment Devin arrives at RA she feels as though something is off. The question is, is she right or is she just refusing to give RA the chance it deserves? Afterall, what can go wrong when the Fairy Godmother is the headmistress?    I´ve been excited to read this book ever since I finished reading Switched  (book 4 in Jen Calonita´s Fairy Tale Reform School Series.) The minute I saw it listed on NetGalley I requested it and kept my fingers crossed and constantly checked my email with the hopes of being accepted to read it. Maybe some of

Playing with Matches

Title: Playing with Matches Author: Hannah Orenstein Rating: 4/5 Stars   Sasha´s life would make others envious. A job as a matchmaker and she has a successful, handsome boyfriend admits New York, which is easier said than done and why people flock to matchmakers and dating apps. Being a matchmaker means Sasha is constantly trolling Tinder, coaching clients through dates and heartbreak, giving dating advise when she barely has any to give, and helping others find their One and the happy ending that goes with it. Sasha´s job only has one rule: no dating the clients; which should not be an issue because Sasha has Johnathan- until she doesn´t. Soon the only rule at work becomes harder to follow. Is Sasha willing to risk everything for her own happy ending?   I was initially drawn to this book because of the cover and title. Plus, the idea of reading about a matchmaker sounded highly entertaining. Throughout the book, I felt a roller coaster of emotions. I felt everything from laugh

To All the Boys I´ve Loved Before

Title: To All the Boys I´ve Loved Before Author: Jenny Han Rating: 4/5 Stars    Lara Jean is a junior in high school who has loved 5 boys and instead of confessing her love she writes them a letter. Letters where she writes and pours out her heart and soul because nobody will ever see them, especially the boys they are intended for. But what happens when the letters are mysteriously sent and one of the boys happens to not only be the boy next door, but also your older sister´s boyfriend?   I´ve thought about reading this book in the past but did not have it high on my TBR list. However, once I saw that the book was being made into a Nexflix adaptation I knew I had to read it before it was released. I know, I know I could have just watched the Netflix show and saved myself from reading the book, but where is the fun in that? Overall, I enjoyed the book although I did find Lara Jean to be childish at times, or maybe I only felt this way because thatś how it was narrated on t

The Hotel Between

Title: The Hotel Between Author: Sean Easley Rating: 3.5/5 Stars On Sale: September 4th    Cam and Cass have never met their parents. They have been told their mother died and their dad disappeared after dropping off the twins with their Oma. Cam thinks there must be more to the story, surely their dad would not abandon them- would he?     The answer to the question presents itself in the form of a mysterious door which leads to The Hotel Between. While Cam is not initially welcomed he eventually gains access- thanks to his new friend and hotel worker, Nico. This hotel is unlike anything Cam has seen before. It has the capabilities to transport you around the world, it has statues that are more than just statues and an abundance of questions and mysteries that are waiting to be discovered. Cam knows the Hotel has the answers he is looking for, but how hard will it be to find answers he is looking for? And will they be what he expected?   While I liked this book, I was

Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass

Title: Harley Quinn Breaking Glass Author: Mariko Tamaki Rating: 3/5 stars (due to the length of excerpt) For Sale: June 4, 2019 I´ve always been obsessed with superheroes and comic books (thanks dad!) and with Harley Quinn being one of my favorites I knew this was a must read. (If my husband and I would have had a girl her name would have been Hailey Quinn. Instead, we have a dog named Loki and a son named Parker, yes named after Peter Parker.) Thanks to NetGalley I received an early excerpt of this graphic novel. We are introduced to Harleen Quinzel who goes to live with her grandma- only her grandma has died so she is now living in an apartment with a drag queen who goes by Mama. We also get a chance to see how Harley- excuse me Harleen- becomes friends with Ivy, yes THE Ivy. While the excerpt was only 28 pages long I am excited and eager to read the remaining novel when it is released next year. Use the button below to add this book to your Goodreads account!

Batman: Preludes to the Wedding

Title: Batman: Preludes to the Wedding Author: Tim Seeley Rating: 3.5/5 Stars On Sale: September 5th This graphic novel is a collection of one-shots all with the common theme of Batman and Catwomanś wedding. There were times when I was genuinely confused by the story (Robin vs Raś al Ghul), but that could be my own fault for not keeping up with the storylines. But hello, who could pass up on the drama building up to a wedding?!    On the other hand, there were other storylines I loved (Batgirl vs Riddler and Joker vs Harley). I enjoyed the art throughout the graphic novel and felt like it was fairly cohesive. While I wish there was more of a focus on Catwoman and Batman I would continue reading the storyline to see what happens at the wedding. ***I was provided an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*** Use the button below to add this book to your Goodreads account!
